Edward James Austin of Southport, husband of Marleen (Sargent) Austin,
died Jan. 2 in Norwalk Hospital following a long illness. He was 64.
Born March 25, 1948 in Boston., son of the late Arthur and Joan (Soderlund)
Austin, he has been a resident of Southport for 38 years.
Prior to retiring in 2007, he was employed with Nash Engineering in Norwalk.
He is a U.S. Air Force veteran who served in Vietnam. He was a member of the
Joseph J. Clinton VFW Post 399 and participated in many sports.
He is survived by his wife Marleen (Sargent) Austin and two daughters,
Melanie Austin and Monica Austin all of Southport; one granddaughter, Piper; two
sisters, JoAnn Arciola of Westport, and Eleanor Westerhold of Chesapeake, Va.;
his father in-law Joseph Sargent, one sister in-law Patricia Roberts, five
nephews and one niece.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. in the Harding
Funeral Home, 210 Post Road East, Westport. The family will receive friends in
the funeral home from 10 a.m. to time of service.
Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Greens Farms.
