Brad Marling '62

Obituary of Lynwood "Brad" Bradley Marling

Lynwood Bradley Marling (Brad) aged 80 passed away from lung cancer on October 16, 2024. He was born on April 17, 1944 in Cincinnati, OH to Florence and John Marling.

Brad grew up mostly in the San Francisco bay area of California. However, his family moved to Switzerland when he was a teen and he graduated from Dreux American High School in Dreux, France. He later attended Georgia Tech University for Bachelor of Engineering, Stanford University for MBA, and Texas Tech for Doctor of Jurisprudence.

After college, Brad practiced law in the Mid Cities area as a Family Law Specialist for the next 45 years. During retirement, he kept busy by working for both the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys in customer service.

Brad had many adventures and traveled extensively around the world as a young man. He also enjoyed many sporting activities, including fantasy football, skiing, refereeing high school football, golf, and pickleball.

Brad married his wife, Patricia and her 2 sons, on June 13,1981. They added another son in 1982 and became a busy family who enjoyed many eventful ski trips and travel destinations together.

Brad is preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence Marling. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, 3 sons, Burke (Amy), Brady (Jessica), Dustin (Chisato),  7 grandchildren; Tyler, Madison, Barrett, Brooke, Lauren, Luke and Jason, and 1 great grandchild, Indie. He is also survived by brothers, Carl Marling (Saundra) and Jack Marling (Nancy), as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville TX on Monday, October 21 at 2 p.m. followed by a reception immediately after. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the American Cancer Society, https://www.cancer.org/donate.html.
