Nancy Kight McLaughlin, 80, of Chester, VA, formerly of Clifton, VA, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025. Born in Palm Beach, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Brigadier General (Ret.) Richard T. Kight, USAF, and June Kight. Nancy had an adventurous spirit and loved spending time outdoors, and she loved to garden. Nancy enjoyed going RV'ing with her women's RV group. The love that she had for her dogs knew no bounds, as animals were her greatest passion throughout the years. However, her deepest love went to her husband of 59 years, Robert. In addition to her husband; she is survived by her two children, Robert E. McLaughlin, Jr. and wife, Kathy, and Monica Jean Shannon and husband, William; four grandchildren, Madison Shannon, Benjamin Shannon, Ryan Shannon, and Robert E. McLaughlin III; and her two siblings. A funeral service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The family is being served by the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local ASPCA in memory of Nancy McLaughlin.
