An "Air Force brat," Larry Earl Von Kaenel's childhood ended up in Vacaville, California, near Travis AFB. Like his father before him, he, too, became a pilot in the US Air Force. In recognition of his service, Larry was laid to rest in the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery on October 13, 2020.

Preceded in death by his parents, and survived by his wife Carol, his children: Aaron, Van, Jacob and Hannah; his sisters Susan von Kaenel and Diane Ekstrom.
