LeRoy K. Burket

LeRoy K. Burket, a recent resident of Merced, died May 13, 2003 in Akron,
Iowa.
LeRoy was born in Alton, Iowa, reared in Akron, Iowa and graduated from
the University of Iowa with a Master of Fine Arts degree. He served in the
U.S. Navy during World War II.
He taught art at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, studied and taught
art in Paris, and worked and lived there until March, 1999, when he moved
to Merced.
He is survived by his twin, Eunice Duncanson, of Merced; nephew Glenn Wood
and his wife Alice of Merced; and their sons Glenn and Ryan; sister Mary
Gale of Akron, Iowa; niece Barbara Davis of Carrollton, Texas; niece
Beverly Allen and her husband Ralph and their children April, Michelle,
and Justin, of Baker, Florida; and nephew Donald Gale and wife Lori, and
their children Michael and Catie of Akron, Iowa.
A memorial service and burial will take place on May 19, 2003 in Akron,
Iowa.
