Leslie M. Fleming '64

Leslie Fleming Marshall, 37, editor's wife and mother of 3

  Leslie Fleming Marshall, 37, a former resident of Bethesda, died Monday in Princeton, NJ.

  Mrs. Marshall collapsed at her home in Princeton and died of heart failure in the Princeton Medical Center.  She recently had returned home following the birth of her daughter, Allison MacGregor, last Wednesday.

  A native of Traverse City, Mich., Mrs. Marshall lived in Bethesda and attended Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in the early 1960's.  After attending the University of Colorado she became a flight attendant for United Airlines.

  Mrs. Marshall was a member of the Episcopal Church.

  Her husband, Joseph Paull Marshall Jr., is a senior editor of Sports Illustrated magazine.  He was a 1965 graduate of the Landon School in Bethesda and a 1969 graduate of Princeton University.  He received a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University in 1971. 

  Besides her husband and daughter, she is survived by two other children, Seton Gray, 5, and Rebecca Paull, 3, her father Navy Adm. Allan Fleming of La Jolla, California; two brothers, Skye Fleming, of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Allan Fleming Jr. of Alexandria, and her grandmother, Mrs. J. Seton Gray also of Alexandria.

  A memorial service will be held at 4:p.m. Friday in All Saints Episcopal Church, 3 Chevy Chase Circle, Chevy Chase.

  The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the American Heart Association, 819 S. Broad Street, Trenton, NJ 08610.

Leslie Fleming Marshall, 37, a retired flight attendant for United Airlines who was a former resident of the Washington area, died of embolism Sept. 17 at Princeton Medical Center in Princeton, NJ.

  Mrs. Marshall was born in Traverse City, Mich., and attended the University of Colorado.  She lived in the Washington area for about five years while she was growing up.  She attended Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School.  She lived here again from 1968 to 1973 while working for United.  She retired from the airline in 1983.

  Survivors include her husband, Joseph P. Marshall, Jr., and three children, Seton Gray, Rebecca Paull and Allison MacGregor, all of Princeton; her father, Allan Fleming, a retired Navy admiral who lives in LaJolla, Calif.; two brothers, Skye Fleming of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Allan Fleming, Jr. of Alexandria; and her grandmother, Mrs. J. Seton Gray, of Alexandria.
