Michael J. Sedlak

SEDLAK, Michael J. - Of Grand Blanc, age 54, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 29, 2000 at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Friday, March 3, 2000 at South Flint Tabernacle, 3450 South Saginaw Street in Burton, Pastor Robert Hisson officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Vernon. Visitation 12Noon-9PM Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mike will be at the church from 10AM until the time of the service on Friday. Mike was born in Durand, Michigan on March 2, 1945. His memory is cherished by his family, friends, and South Flint Tabernacle where he was a very active and influential member. He was a graduate of Dreux America High School in Dreux, France, and a 1972 graduate of Eastern Michigan University, earning a BA in history and sociology. Mike was an 18 year supervisor at AC Spark Plug, retiring in 1988. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, trained in explosives and long-range recon. He served in Chu-Lai in 1969-70, separating in 1971 as an E-6. His father, Col. John E. Sedlak, USAF Retired, preceded him in death in 1989. He is survived by his loving wife, Leslie and son, Matthew of Grand Blanc, and daughter, Carrie and husband Steven Blair of Chesterfield, Missouri. He is also survived by his mother, Betty of Swartz Creek, brother, David and wife Sharon Sedlak of Clarkston, Michigan. Father-in-law and mother-in-law, A.G. and Katherine Shelley of Flint, Michigan and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Gary Steinberg of Swartz Creek, Michigan. There are four nieces and one nephew.
