Neil Howard Butler, 65, of Tallahassee, FL went to be with his Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ on January 4, 2015. The son of a Navy pilot, he was born in
1949 in Port Hueneme, CA and spent his childhood living in many cities around
the world. His family eventually settled in Florida where Neil attended The
University of Florida before getting his law degree from Florida State
University (though he remained a lifelong Gator).
He practiced law in Tallahassee for 25 years with an emphasis on construction
issues and he co-authored a book on the Florida Construction Lien Law. An avid
golfer, Neil was known to friends and associates for his quirky sense of humor
and exuberance. He was a longtime member of Faith Presbyterian Church.
Neil is survived by his wife Sandy of Tallahassee, their two children Neil
Butler Jr. (Kara Owens) of Los Angeles and Carin Butler of Tallahassee, one
grandchild, Brooks Butler of Los Angeles, his father John Butler (Alda) of
Melbourne Beach, FL, his brother Curtiss Butler (Lee) of New York and nephews
Julian Butler of New York, Sean Butler (Amy) and great niece Elaine of Orlando.
A private memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a
donation to "Manna on Meridian", c/o Faith Presbyterian Church, 2200
Meridian Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32303.
Culley's Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
