Phillips:“Unexpected death came to Neal Howard Phillips of Poona,
India, after a three day illness in a hospital in Bombay, India. Neal was the
son of Mr and Mrs Howard E Phillips. Neal had been in good health prior to the
short illness and was planning on being home in Odessa for Christmas and spend
several months. He had a lengthy happy conversation with his parents several
weeks prior to his death. Neal attended local grade and high school and was
active in Boy Scouts, becoming an Eagle Scout. He graduated from the University
of Washington, a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, and The Sorbonne in
Paris, France, living in Europe and Africa where he became skilled in many
languages before going to India, where he pursued his work as a political
writer.In addition to his parents,
surviving him are his wife, Eve, a daughter Chittara, sisters: Sue Huff, Austin,
TX; Sandra Phillips, Seattle, WA; Nancy Burris, Cheney, WA; and Kathleen
Garrett, Federal Way, WA; and a brother, Ned Phillips, Odessa.Nieces and nephews surviving are Nancy Reass, Tracy, CA; Karen Huff and
David Huff, Austin, TX; William Burris, Cheney, WA; and Trevor Garrett, Federal
Way, WA. Neal was a member of the English Congregational Church of Odessa.”
