Stephen E. Colpitts

Stephen E. Colpitts, 54, of Boise , recently of Buhl, died June 4, 2002, of congestive heart failure. Steve was born October 12, 1947, in Chamberlain, S.D., to Harold Stephen and Hope Probasco Colpitts. His father was in the U.S. Military and Steve spent part of his youth in France and England . He graduated from Burkburnett High School in Burkburnett , Texas . He joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Thailand during the Viet Nam Conflict. Steve and Robin Santee were married August 3, 1968 in McCall , Idaho . They had lived in Boise , Salmon, Pocatello , Buhl and settled in Boise . He worked over 30 years for Idaho Power Co. until declared permanently disabled in July 2001 due to clinical depression. Steve made very good jerky, smoked turkeys, enjoyed golf, fitness, cooking, collecting insulators and advertising caps, canning tomatoes and making pickles. He loved his family very much, especially granddaughter, Kelcey, and will be greatly missed. He had been a member of Clear Lakes Country Club and the Idaho Power Co. Current Club. Survivors include his wife, Robin of Boise; two daughters, Kristy Colpitts of Boise, and Stefanie and her husband, Jeff Ellinwood of Austin, Texas; granddaughter Kelcey Colpitts-Leitch of Boise; mother Hope Colpitts of Twin Falls, Idaho; one aunt, five cousins and extended family in Salmon, Idaho, including Phyllis Santee, Laurie Santee, Shawn and Nikkie Wells and Ashley Santee-Usher. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, uncles and an aunt. Memorials may be made to Buhl QRU, 203 Broadway N., Buhl , ID 83316 or National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Idaho, PO Box 68 , Albion , ID 83311 . Cremation is under the direction of Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. "We love you and will miss you, RKSC." A memorial and potluck dinner will be held at the home of Steve's long-time friend, Barry Knoblich at 4 p.m. on June 15 at 1174, Skyline Dr., Twin Falls, Idaho, phone 734-3344.
