Teresa Kilpatrick '67
Teresa Kilpatrick Murphy was born May 6, 1949. Most of you should remember
she was artistic, she could draw anything. She took several art classes in
Europe before moving back to the States in 1967. She started selling her
paintings and artwork while going to college. After being a starving artist she
studied Interior Design and became an Interior Decorator. She worked doing
window designs and then was hired to decorate museums for Christmas. She had a
gift for bringing in the magic of Christmas. She was the most requested
decorator for Christmas seasons from shopping malls to wealthy individuals. I
was so proud of my sister.
She married Ron Murphy in 1982 and gave birth to a daughter Wendy Murphy Rico.
She was Teresa's greatest work she always said. She stayed in Mobile and for the
first time established roots after moving with our military family every 18
months.
She was a Christian soldier before her passing. She was given 2 weeks to live in
July of 1998, she started the fight of her life. She lost the battle on August
3, 2000. She lived long enough to hear the birth of her first grandchild on July
31. She was the best big sister anyone could ask for, she taught me to enjoy
life and see the beauty in art.
Written in loving memory of Teresa by her sister, Donna
