William D. Edens (Evreux Elementary)

William Dennis "Bill" Edens, 66, of Locust Grove, was called to his heavenly home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He died peacefully at his residence Sunday, June 26, 2016. Bill fought a courageous battle with cancer for the third time.

Bill retired from the Department of the Navy, working for the Under Secretary.

He was born in Oceanport, N.J., and lived in France and Germany before returning back to the states and grew up in Alexandria, Va.

Bill served as an ordained Deacon in God's Church and was one of the co-founders of Community Baptist Church in Orange, Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Al Edens and Freda G. Harrison Edens; a twin brother, Wallace Edens; and two sisters, Norma Hensdell and Helen Harnett. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Jeanne Conner Edens; son, William Scott Edens; one brother, Don Edens; one sister, Patricia Evans; three nieces, Dawn Minor, Grainne Hanks, Janel McCann; five nephews, Patrick Ridge, Brian and Shawn Bohannon, Terry and Danny Harnett; and several great-nieces and nephews.
