William (Bill, Skippy) Schipper was born
in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 26th, 1947 to Elmer and Mary Lou
Schipper. Bill went to the Lord October 25th, 2017 at the VA hospital in
Oklahoma City.
Bill attended U.S.Grant HS and graduated in 1965 and went to the US Army
the same year as an infantryman in Vietnam. He earned several medals and
became a member of the Purple Heart Association.
He met Margaret (Maggie) Campbell in 1964 dated and got married in October
1966 having a wonderful fifty-one years of marriage. Their marriage
resulted in the birth of twins, Charles and La Dawn and grandchildren of
Alexis Davis, and Rebecca Davis, Matthew Schipper and survived by sisters
Alice Robinson, Karen Kruljac, Donna Zink, Patsy de Anda, Michelle Cobo
and brothers Allen Schipper. Siblings preceded in death along with the
parents are Leroy Schipper and Carol Gable.
Special recognition and thanks to Peggy Campbell and to a special friend
Alyssa Toms. Bill celebrated life by being a die hard Sooner fan and bled
crimson and cream. He was active in the Disciples of Christ church and
held several offices. He and his wife loved to travel in their RV.
A celebration of his life will be held Thursday November 2nd at a place
and time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to
the ALS research foundation through the VA. He will be laid to rest in
Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia with full military
honors at a later date. Memorial Services will be held at Forest Hill
Christian Church, 2121 N. MacArthur, on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at
11:00 a.m.
